Rothman Orthopaedics Florida at AdventHealth in Orlando, Florida is hiring six highly motivated medical students (Third and Fourth Year) to participate in orthopedic surgery clinical research for a 1-year position for the 2024-2025 academic year. Each research intern will be assigned to an orthopedic service department and will work closely with the residents, fellows, and attendings. All Research Interns must comply with AdventHealth standard research credentialing before officially starting the position.

The Rothman Orthopaedic Institute and AdventHealth partnership was established in 2020 to expand access to world-class orthopedic care in Central Florida, bringing the research and academic expertise of Rothman Orthopedic to the metro Orlando area. 

AdventHealth Orlando boasts nationally and internationally recognized clinical and research programs and serves as a major tertiary and quaternary referral hospital for much of the Southeast, the Caribbean, and Latin America. AdventHealth’s hospitals and extensive outpatient network see more than 3.5 million patient visits annually across the Central Florida Region.

  • Responsibilities:
    • Assist with the preparation of IRB protocols
    • Data collection, management, and statistical analysis
    • Writing, editing, and submitting manuscripts and/or grant proposals
    • Poster and podium presentations at national/international conferences
    • Attending and participating in the Didactic Sessions and Journal Clubs
    • Attending the Rothman Florida (ROFL) research meetings
    • Coordinating the logistics for the monthly service research meetings and reporting out to the associate research director
  • Qualifications:
    • Current 3rd or unmatched 4th-year medical students in good standing with a strong dedication to match in an orthopedic surgery residency
    • Enthusiasm to learn aspects of clinical research and further their clinical knowledge in orthopedic surgery
    • Must be organized, detail-oriented, highly motivated, and work well with others
    • Must demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Prior research experience is preferred but not required
    • Familiarity with statistical analysis and programs is preferred but not required
