The Lenox Hill Hospital Department of Orthopedic Surgery (New York, NY) is seeking candidates for an employed, non-ACGME Orthopaedic Surgery House Officer position, to begin July 2025 with a 1 year term and potential for a 1 year extension.

This unique opportunity is ideal for quality candidates who: 1) Demonstrate a sustained interest in the field of orthopaedic surgery 1) Have not successfully Matched in orthopaedic residency in prior cycles 2) Will have successfully completed an ACGME-accredited internship (e.g. General Surgery- Transitional Year) prior to July 2025.

The position offers a fully-paid, clinically-focused employment similar with responsibilities and opportunities similar to those of a PGY-2 resident.  House Officers function in parallel to our ACP and Resident team.  Responsibilities include Operating Room coverage (typically 4 days / week) in both inpatient and ambulatory settings, rounding and floor coverage, and intermittent outpatient clinic assignments.  Our House Officer is included in the primary in-house call pool on a Q5-6 basis under senior resident supervision, with direct report responsibilities to On-Call faculty surgeons.  The House Officer is included in departmental educational sessions and lectures, CME and social events, and is encouraged to volunteer in our productive division of research under the supervision of Dr. Virginie Lafage and Lenox Hill faculty.  The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery also funds an official OITE examination for the House Officer following the residency testing period.

In order to qualify for this position, it is required that candidates will have successfully completed one year of ACGME training and passed all portions of the USMLE inclusive of Step 3 prior to the July start date.  An active New York State license is required for this role prior to activation (confirmed passage of Step 3 is a requirement for New York State licensure). This contract is for a minimum of 1 year and a maximum of 2 years.  Competitive salary and benefits are offered.
