We are looking for a motivated and self-driven medical student to join the orthopaedic spine division at Medstar Health/Georgetown University School of Medicine starting July 2025 in Washington DC. The research fellow will report to Addisu Mesfin MD and will have opportunities to also work with seven other spine surgeons in the department. The focus of the research is mainly clinical, and the department already has research coordinators and a PhD in Biostatistics that can work with the research fellow. There will be opportunities to collaborate with residents and medical students. There will be opportunities to observe in clinic and the OR as well as attending educational conferences.
Minimum requirements: Has completed third year of medical school before the start of the fellowship. Experience with clinical research, prior publication, experience with writing and submitting a manuscript.
Goals: To publish a minimum of 15 peer-reviewed publications and presentations at national spine/orthopaedic meetings.
