Bone and Joint Infection Research Fellowship
Location: Sinai Hospital of Baltimore, Baltimore, MD
Preceptor: Janet D. Conway, MD, FAAOS

The Bone and Joint Division at the Rubin Institute for Advanced Orthopedics invites current medical students and graduates to apply for a funded, one- or two-year clinical research fellowship for the 2026–2027 academic year.
This fellowship is designed to prepare the next generation of orthopaedic surgeons by offering an immersive experience that integrates research, clinical exposure, and mentorship. This opportunity is ideal for medical students taking a gap year or MD/DO graduates pursuing a career in orthopaedic surgery.
Program Overview:
Fellows will engage in a variety of research projects addressing critical topics in orthopaedic trauma, arthroplasty, bone and joint infection management, rehabilitation, patient safety, healthcare quality and value, and other orthopaedic subspecialties. Research is complemented by direct mentorship, with fellow meeting Dr. Conway and her clinical fellows multiple times per week to ensure guidance and support.
The program also offers substantial clinical exposure. The fellow is allowed to participate in daily morning conferences of our residency program and has observation opportunities to work closely with Dr. Conway, residents, and clinical fellows in both the clinic and operating room settings.
