Being from an unknown school may or may not hurt you depending on how you ask. It may with some of the brandname places but you never know. Do one "dream" away and one
"backup" and you'll be fine.

Agree with Micky that you'll be fine. Your board scores are quite good and should get you interviews at the majority of the places you want. I would argue though, that you should do 2 dream aways. Why not? If you do well you may be able to get a spot at a stellar program. Doing an away at a 'backup' may not help you at all...and after all what is a backup in ortho?

You're solid. You'll do fine unless you're just a total tool-bag, loser, slacker, or have 0 personality. When we're throwing out advice we can say whether or not a person has a chance based on "paper." keep that in mind.

Regardless of your credential, I would advise you to cast a broad net. It can only help you.
The only thing you might want to try to add to your CV would be publications and/or research, and then you will be a true Stiffmeister!

I agree with the above...you'll do fine unless you have the the charm of a saltine cracker. But don't get overconfident; I know plenty of people doing prelim years in gen. surg right know because they thought they did stupid things while applying. Examples: 1) Going to inteviews and telling them you are probably going to Pitt or HSS because you liked it there best 2) Making your rank list too shallow 3) Only ranking/applying to high-end programs.
And the list goes on and on.
Remember: there really aren't any bad ortho programs out there....some are just better than others.
