Anyone have any info about the program? Specifically the right attendings to get to know?

Re: HJD/NYU program
The triumverate there is Dr. Zuckerman, Dr. Koval, and Jaffe. Dr Koval is a great guy, and has a huge
say in who gets in.. I rotated there on his service, and basically the residents told me that if Koval likes
you he can pull you in. In general, it's a great program.. the residents operate a ton (despite the rumors
I heard on the trail), and are real happy about the program. They place in the top fellowships. Problem is
they do pay more, like 40K first year, but without subsidized housing (waiting list and not that cheap),
finding housing on your own and paying $2000 a month means you live check to check.

Definitely try to get put on a Joint Disease rotation. Many times during popular months, students may be
put on Bellevue rotations. Though still a great rotation, it seems that these students don't meet many
attendings. One rotation to recommend is HJD Team C, Dr. Koval's service. He's a great guy, teaches a
TON, and fun to work with.
