The Mayo Clinic Orthopedic Trauma Service (OTS) invites outstanding US MD/DO medical students to apply for a one-year funded clinical research fellowship position starting spring/summer of 2024.

This is an incredible opportunity to strengthen your CV for the increasingly competitive orthopedic match. The research fellow will have the opportunity to pursue several projects with the Mayo OTS faculty: Drs. Andy Sems, Brandon Yuan, Woodie Cross, Krystin Hidden, and Jennifer Tangtiphaiboontana. Research topics will cover general trauma, upper extremity, lower extremity, arthroplasty, and biomechanics. Duties will include project design, scientific literature search, data collection, statistical evaluation, and manuscript preparation. The fellow will be encouraged to submit abstracts to national conferences which they will be funded to attend. In addition to research, the fellowship allows the opportunity to engage in morning trauma conference, weekly grand rounds, and a clinical rotation at Mayo Clinic. There will be a structured, formalized curriculum covering topics such as leadership skills, acing away rotations, and conducting research. The year also provides daily mentorship with application feedback and interview strategies for a successful match into Orthopaedic Surgery.
