I'm wondering if anyone has come up with idea/opportunities for surgical/orthopedic residents to make some extra money during their residency (not including moonlighting).
Ideas input welcome
you could always sell yourself as a gigolo.. )
seriously though, even those places who do allow moonlighting (in my opinion who wants to be working up chest/abdominal pain in some small ER, thats why i went into ortho to get away from that!) will be cutting back since that will count towards the new 80 hour rule.
I did orthopedic Compensation and Pension exams at the VA my 4th and 5th yrs. No risk, no chest or abdominal pain. Just seeing injured vets and providing a diagnosis and occasional opinion. Also stirred up some good cases for the residents on the VA service.
