The Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Children’s Mercy Hospital is offering a one-year, paid research position designed for medical students or unmatched Orthopedic Surgery applicants. This program will give applicants the opportunity to work directly with faculty members to gain practical research experience and aid in building foundational skills to become a successful clinician researcher. The research assistant will gain exposure in pediatric orthopedics through their work with faculty mentors, fellows, and residents, as well as guidance in preparing for Orthopedic Surgery residency applications. This position allows research assistants to work directly with orthopedic faculty at the University of Missouri Kansas City (UMKC) Orthopedic Surgery Residency Program.

Research Fellow Experience
Networking opportunities with orthopedic surgery residents, fellows, and attending surgeons at Children’s Mercy Kansas City and UMKC Orthopedic Surgery Residency
• Direct mentorship through orthopedic faculty
• Gain research experience through lead authorship and co-authorship opportunities
• Present research at regional and national orthopedic conferences
• Participate in departmental education including lecture series, didactic teaching sessions, and Grand Rounds at Children’s Mercy and UMKC Orthopedic Surgery Residency
