We are interested in recruiting two candidates for the 2024-2025 spine research fellowship with Dr. Kern Singh, a world-renowned spine surgeon, Co-Director of the Minimally Invasive Spine Institute and Professor in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Rush University Medical Center. Competitive candidates are willing to take a year off between their 3rd and 4th year and who demonstrate a strong interest in orthopaedics and an outstanding work ethic. 

We are also interested in taking unmatched candidates from the 2024 cycle.

Position Title: Research Coordinator
Positions: 2
Duration: 1 year
Where: Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush University Medical Center, Chicago, IL.
When: Beginning May 2024
Salary: A monthly stipend is provided + all conferences expenses covered

Duties of the research coordinators will include:
  • Writing of manuscripts and abstracts
  • Statistical analysis of data
  • Creation and submission of Institutional Review Board (IRB) protocols
  • Drafting and writing of book chapters and textbooks
  • Writing educational articles for Dr. Singh’s journals
  • Managing the research team (2-3 research assistants and medical students)
  • Management of administrative tasks (emails, reimbursements, clerical work, etc)
 Specific Prerequisites and Characteristics of the coordinators should include:
  • [Preferred not required] Familiarity with STATA or other statistics software (SPSS, R, etc)
  • Must be excellent at time management
  • Must be able to work well in a team setting
  • Must have an outstanding work ethic
  • Having a car is helpful but not required
