Orthopaedic Biomechanics Research Fellowship 2026-2027
Opportunity for Post-Match Medical Students 
This role is a one-year, salaried, full-time research position:
  • Design and execute basic science and clinical research projects, manage ongoing projects, submit to national conferences and major journals
  • Mentor medical students
  • Opportunity to work directly with Dr. Farid Amirouche, director of orthopaedic research
  • Collaborate with multiple members of the orthopaedic faculty including the department chair, Dr. Mark Gonzalez, and the residency program director, Dr. Alfonso Mejia
There are no clinical responsibilities. The fellow is welcome to attend morning conferences, Grand Rounds, cadaver labs, sawbone workshops, and social events with the UIC residents.

The Timeline:
Anticipated start date: Early / Mid May (earlier is preferred) to allow the previous fellows to provide training and a transition period for the role.This position is NOT open to individuals who have matched into an NRMP training program for the 2026-2027 academic year. Preference will be given to medical students or graduates who have previously attempted to match into an NRMP-approved residency program.
