If you guys are interested, HJD has a published book available on Orthopedic Surgery Residency: How to Get Into a Program and Succeed Once You're There. Dr. Schafer (NU Chair) wrote a positive review of this book in the March edition of JBJS, p. 514. To obtain a copy, send $24.00 cash, money order or check made payable to HJD, 301 E. 17th St., NY NY 10003 Attn: Cynthia Bastien.
I haven't seen it yet, but thought some of you might be interested.

Just a tiny correction to the above post and the JBJS review...I believe the contact person's name is Cynthia BastiOn (not Bastien) so the e-mail address cited in the review is probably incorrect (But more importantly, the mailing address is correct).

The book a lot of good advice esp. from the director at HJD. The book also has information on fellowships, info for 1st and 2nd yrs med studs and residents. Much of the advice isn't unique to this book and can be found elsewhere but it's the only one I've seen that puts it altogether for the orthopod wanna be. At $24 it may be a buy and share.
