Still early but anyone else getting uneasy with lack of invites?
Wasn't expecting much before Nov but checking orthogate doesn't help..

I feel the exact same way, and I know we are not alone. Sucks seeing all the programs sending out invites and not getting them, hopefully the next few weeks bring better luck and more interviews!

Agreed with the previous sentiments. Most ortho applicants I know have 1-3 interviews with almost everyone waiting for the November wave.

Thanks for starting the thread. Good place to vent a bit. I am also in the same boat. I hope everyone here gets more interviews as things go forward and matches well.

Based on the interview invites thread, ~30 out of 153 programs have sent out invites. That means >80% of programs still haven't sent out invites yet.

I realize (hopefully) no one applied to all 153, but regardless there is still an overwhelming majority of programs to be heard from!!

As competitive as Ortho is nowadays, its hard not to get stressed out, but we got this--November is coming!!!

^ Easier to be optimistic when you already have like 10 invites before November...

Has anyone heard from Yale? I don't see anything on the interview invite thread but given that their first interview date is in 2 weeks, they should have sent out some invites by now at least.

Anyone know if the majority of programs will tell you that you won't be getting an interview? I remember med school apps being mostly silent rejections.

I think most programs do not send any kind of response. Most likely, they send out invites to a wave of applicants, and then have some sort of unofficial wait list that they will reach out to as the initial invitees cancel/reject interviews.

There are only so many interview dates so the top candidates getting >25/30 interviews will have to end up canceling some interviews.

(Fingers crossed, but I imagine it works something like this)
It seems like a thread like this is started every year. Would be nice to know if things ended up working out for the people in similar situations in years past. I'm also a little worried with the lack of invites

I just created a poll threat that may offer more help to those who are interviewing this year and those who interview in the future. Please try to vote so we can get actual concrete data instead of subjective statements like "interviews don't come out until November."

Yeah...don't feel the best right now. Hope that changes soon, but hard to be positive.

I wish I had more interviews too, but hope springs eternal! I'm just going to write follow-up emails to programs in the hopes of even getting a few more bites!

I just wrote follow-up emails to 5 programs about a week ago. Haven't heard back from any of them. No responses to the emails and no interview offers or rejections from either of the 5. Has anyone else had better luck?

Hey all,

I just received an interview invitation from a program that originally sent invited about 3 weeks ago. That means there is some movement from cancellations/waitlists so I wouldn't lose complete hope!
