Hey I rotated there and was actually one of the wild ones the night before the interview.
Mini-bottles make drinking in Charleston a b*&%$, and there are a few residents that kinda suck, but the rest of them rock. The hospital is nice, but public, and known for having some lazy, unhappy nurses. Charleston's a great place to train - of course, for the chicks and the beach, but also b/c it has a fantastic network of connections that get you whatever fellowship you want. The training while you're there is definitely so-so, though, and there are a couple of dick attendings that the residents don't get to operate at all while they're with them. Sports is weak, but guys are getting great sports fellowships recently. I'm ranking it 4th of 20 behind 3 private programs, if that helps, and the guys in school there aren't choosing it as their No. 1's. And FYI, they take about 20 rotators/yr and give about 30 interviews out. They invite all but 2-3 rotators usually, and the other guys not connected with MUSC are pretty strong candidates. If you're not from there or connected to SC, you'd better have >3.9 and >240, OR rotate there. Hope this helps.
