Medical students and medical school graduates are invited to apply for a one-year research fellowship in the Orthopaedic Spine Research section at Beaumont Health-Royal Oak campus, under the mentorship of Jad Khalil, M.D., Jeff Fischgrund, M.D. and Kevin Baker, Ph.D. Students must be entirely committed to the fellowship for the one-year period. Research fellows will perform basic, translational, and clinical academic research, resulting in abstract, manuscript, review article, and book chapter preparation and authorship. Fellows will be embedded with Orthopaedic Research Laboratory staff, but will interact regularly with orthopaedic spine surgeons, spine fellows, and orthopaedic surgery residents through monthly research update and other meetings. Research Fellows will also be able to rotate in the clinic and OR with spine surgeons (and other orthopaedic services as available). Drs. Khalil and Fischgrund will also meet and communicate with the research fellow to assist with post-research fellowship planning. Stipend available. Interested students may apply by emailing a cover letter, CV, and writing samples (e.g. lab report, term paper) to [email protected].
