I did an away rotation at SUNY Buffalo last year and went home rather impressed with the program. If you can get past the crummy weather during the winter it is a great program. The faculty is a great group who love to teach and one of them is Dr. Kennith Krackow (a big name joint guy). A few guys have short tempers in the OR, but nothing to malignant to handel. There are great teaching workshops every week including cadaver disections for surgical approaches and practicing arthroscopy on prosections! Plus, because it has bad weather (also an economic depressed area) housing is dirt cheap! You can live like a king on a residents salary! I ended up ranking them pretty high...although I didn't match there.
I ended up matching at SUNY Stony Brook and I really don't know anything about this program on account of the off-site interview that was only attended by a few chief residents. Plus it was my last interview late in the season and I was kinda on autopilot. If anyone has any info I would be very interested...but don't scare me too much okay?

stonybrook was one of the interviews i went on where i knew nothing about the program or area. i met some really cool people there. have to love trauma though!! if you are really interested, you could call them for more info.

the only program outside of manhattan that i really liked enough to strongly consider that was LIJ. great faculty and guys there. awesome benefits. like a mini HSS.
