Nice, very nice!

Went down on the first interview day. Interviews are really laid back. 5 rooms with one attending each. A
couple of the rooms had a resident in it too. Apparently, the residents have a big say in who gets
selected. Very impressive program. I went down there not expecting much but came away thinking that
my "gut feel" about this place was better than 9 out of the 10 places that I've been to so far. Very
impressive. Guys are extremely happy. Very strong in sports and peds (they have a shriner's hospital).
No tumor guy. Great trauma experience. They have a VA attached right to the university hospital.
Lexington is very much a college town. Very laid back program in general. Young chairman, and lots of
young faculty. UK seems dedicated to making there ortho program a national competitor. Faculty are
young, excited and hungry. Applying for a 4th resident.
