Position:  Paid clinical research fellowship in Orthopaedic Total Joints Surgery
Duration:  1 year (June 2025 - May 2026)
Where:  Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Nashville TN
Program Faculty:  Gregory Polkowski MD, J Ryan Martin, MD, Stephen Engstrom MD, Hunter Hood MD, Courtney Baker MD Description:The Vanderbilt Department of Orthopaedic Surgery is recruiting a highly-qualified medical student for a clinical research fellowship with a focus on Total Joints research.  The fellowship program will consist of three major components: research, mentorship, and clinical observation in outpatient clinics and the operating room. Priority will be given to applicants dedicated to a career in orthopedic surgery. The applicant should demonstrate a strong academic record, creativity, problem-solving ability, drive, organization, and a willingness to learn.

This funded fellowship position offers an opportunity to contribute to impactful research in the field of adult Total Joints surgery. The research fellow will be involved with prospective and retrospective research clinical projects involving the spectrum of Total Joints surgery and will work closely with Attending Surgeons and Orthopaedic Residents to maximize their exposure to the field of orthopaedic surgery. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain quality research and clinical experience to enhance your residency application, while also providing you with the tools necessary for a successful orthopaedic career involving clinical research.  
Ideal candidates are highly motivated US medical students (or graduates) looking to match into competitive orthopedic residency programs.
