The Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Prisma Health / University of South Carolina is seeking a motivated rising 4thyear medical student or unmatched medical graduate to participate in a year-long research fellowship. This opportunity will allow applicants to strengthen their application for the Orthopedic Surgery Match. Fellows will expect to work on numerous projects with several investigators; primarily in Foot and Ankle Orthopedics under the direction of Dr. J. Benjamin Jackson III. Dr. Jackson is an internationally-known Foot and Ankle Surgeon who has lectured at the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society (AOFAS), has 100+ manuscripts and abstracts accepted throughout his career, and has won numerous honors and awards for his research projects. He serves on committees for the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS), the American Orthopaedic Association (AOA), and AOFAS. The two previous research fellows have collectively had 21 manuscript acceptances and 39 poster/podium acceptances. Fellows will gain exposure to multiple areas of Orthopedic surgery through both prospective and retrospective research studies. The ideal applicant should be organized, self-motivated, a strong communicator, and have a strong desire to learn about research and orthopedics. Previous experience with statistical analysis is preferred, but not required. Location: Prisma Health / University of South Carolina, Columbia, SC Duration: 1 year, starting in May / June Compensation: Salary, $31,000 per year Candidates will be considered on a rolling basis.
