Who: US medical students between M3/M4 interested in Sports Medicine Orthopaedic Surgery. Unmatched medical students and students applying to medical school may also be considered. Please note, we are unable to sponsor any international applicants at this time.

When: May/June 2024-June 2025 (duration 1 year, potential to extend)
Salary: A monthly stipend is provided

Dr. Adam Yanke, Director of Clinical Research and Assistant Director the Cartilage Restoration Center, invite interested and motivated individuals to apply for a clinical research fellowship at Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush and Rush University Medical Center. This position provides the unique opportunity to work directly under a leader in orthopaedic sports medicine with a specific focus on the treatment of cartilage restoration and patellar instability, among other topics in sports medicine. We are seeking forward-thinking, self-driven students to explore their interests in orthopedic surgery and sports medicine by working in a fast-paced clinical research environment and biomechanics lab determined to produce high quality, novel research.

Current Areas of Active Research
· 3D-printed, patient specific instrumentation
· Biological therapies (BMAC, PRP, amniotic products, etc.)
· Patient reported outcomes
· Procedure-specific outcomes and associations
· Biomechanics studies pertaining to the knee and shoulder
Prerequisites and Applicant Characteristics:
· Motivation for a career in orthopaedic surgery, with proven research interest
· Strong academic record and work ethic
· Organized, detail-oriented, proactive
· Prior experience in biomechanical research, prospective trials including randomized clinical trials, and database research are preferred
· Experience with data analysis and statistical software (SPSS, STATA, etc.) preferred

Reference(s) or letters of recommendation from any research or orthopaedic experiences are preferred (1-2), but not required.
