So I'm a fourth year foreign medical student, did all of my rotations in NY and NJ (including 2 ortho away electives), have high 230's on Step 1 and 2, published research in a top ortho journal, applied to over a hundred programs and have only 1 interview so far. Does this sound about right or do you think I should be getting more interviews?

Also, I was born in the US and went to a top university and got a degree in engineering. I took a few years off before coming to medical school, hence the Caribbean school.

Also, the program director of one of my away rotations told me he wrote an exceptional LOR on my behalf.

I think it’s going to be tough, but that doesn’t mean impossible. Kick ass on the interviews that you get and hope for the best. This is a difficult game to predict. Good luck.[/list]

The admission doors for foreign students into medical schools are wider. With the slow-down of applications to American medical schools this means that more opportunities exist for foreign students to gain admission. Thanks for sharing....
