I can't tell you much about the BU program other than they have a reputation of being trauma heavy. I don't know anyone personally in the program.

I can tell you about the New England Medical Center(NEMC)/Tufts program though. It has four residents a year. I rotated there and really liked the residents and the attendings. The ER at NEMC is level II and therefore they are not a big trauma center. The residents go to Brown University for 3 months in their 4th year to get intense trauma training. The residents also rotate through the New England Baptist Hospital and get phenomenal joint experience there. It is one of the top joint hospitals in the country. The residents also rotate through a community hospital and get a look at community orthopaedics as well. The program is well balanced. Some people feel that there is not enough trauma, but the Brown rotation gives you plenty. The call is Q3 all 5 years, but not being a Level I trauma center, the call is manageable. Hope this helps.
