Does anyone know or have heard of when programs start contacting applicants to let them know where they stand? Have they already started or will they wait until the beginning of february? I hear you can contact UCLA and Harvard and find out where you stand but what about other places.

I was contacted by the devil. He said that I could match at my number 1 choice if I would give up the souls of my first 3 children, and I agreed without hesitation. I mean, what could be more important than matching into a good ortho program. I feel really lucky that the devil picked me out from all the worthy applicants. Now I'm having a hard time deciding on where I want the devil to place me. Can you guys help/

I was contacted by Jesus and he said I will be welcome in the kingdom of heaven, but unfortunately the closest I will get to touching a knee is in my career as a rheumatologist!

Wash U has contacted some applicants by phone. As I understand, they have been doing this for years. I think that there are a good number of people that match there that don't get calls, but I am not sure on this point. I think one of the residents said that during my interview session.

I have heard that Kentucky and Florida made phone calls stating: "We really liked you."
I have also heard that Campbell Clinic has made both phone calls and sent e-mails, but was not clear on the true content of each. Perhaps someone else could add more info?

Don't worry Cain.

You will be an orthopedic surgeon.

Don't let any rumor (fact or fiction) "ruin" your day.

It is important to maintain an optimistic attitude during these stressful times.

life sux here too-

many programs have already submitted their rank lists, many more prorgrams than are listed on this thread have already contacted all the applicants who are likely to match. obviously those people who were contacted either do want to blow our day by telling us or don't waste their time on this website.

As for UCLA- the residency coordinator has never seen the match extend beyond the 1st tier.

Nevertheless, rank as you wish to go.

I got a call from one of the attendings at Allegheny this weekend. Asked if I had questions and told me they were impressed with me at the interview. I'm excited because I really liked this program. Anyone else hear from them? Just curious as to how many applicants they contacted. Good luck to all this March.

Does anyone know how many tiers there are at UCLA? I have heard they never go out of the first tier on their rank list. I am wondering if anyone hasn't matched after being ranked in tier one?

I saw a classmate of mine this weekend who said he got a call and a letter from Mayo. Said something like "excellent chance of matching..."

All I heard from UVA was an e-mail that said something along the lines of: If you really want to come to UVA, you should rank both the 5 year and 6 year programs. I assume it went out to everyone. Am I right?

Anyone had any correspondences from Lenox Hill or UVA? They said they may contact their top choices. I haven't heard from either but am hoping to. Good luck with the match guys.

Rochester does make calls.
Not a rumor, not hearsay, not 'from a friend of a friend'.....fact.

However, not hearing from a program that you know has called others is not necessarily a bad thing. Don't adjust your rank list based on calls.

Lifesux (but only for a few more weeks....I hope.....please god let me match!)

Are you sure about Rochester? They said specifically at their interview that they do not make calls or send letters.
