Although I haven't received any yet, I'm sure that we're all doomed to get a few. I thought it might be helpful to everyone to start this thread along with the invitation thread... a good way to tell these programs "GFY"
Although not quite a rejection, I was offered an interview position, but since I did not reply in time, I have been told that there are no spots left. I now have to wait and see if they will open up another interview date.

Just a bit frustrated, but alas....

That's pretty ridiculous. How could they offer more interviews than interview spots available? Was it just that you couldn't get the date you wanted or rather there were no spots left on any date?

Well, I can understand your frustration Jaydoc79.

I think I much rather get a guarenteed yes or no. For example, I just got the thanks but really no thanks from OHIO State!!!!

Now I'm really glad they got smoked by Northwestern.

The first email offered four dates. I got a second email stating that three of the dates were full. I responded that I would accept whichever date was available. When I got no response, I called. I was told that all four of the dates were full and that they were considering opening another date. So the wait continues.

Unfortunately, many programs will offer more interviews than there are spots available. So check your email frequently and call immediately when you get offered a spot.

They could barely decide on who should be president ... what was I expecting!

Just like Kerry, I was rejected by Ohio (State).

At least OSU will let you know if you are rejected unlike many programs out there that don't even give you the courtesy rejection letter.

I couldnt agree more with Orthodoc. I would rather hear it straight up rather than be dragged along.

I wish more programs would just be honest and forthcoming. I respect OSU for letting us know early. I just hope that I dont get too many forthcoming programs telling me to beat it...

True, OrthoDoc. A few programs I applied to have given interview notifications and I have not heard from them. It is difficult to decide whether this means that more interview waves are to come or if they are giving the silent rejection?
PROGRAMS, PLEASE BE FRANK!

shoot, i am a PGY3 ortho res and i still am waiting on my rejection letter from 5 places i applied to for residency! Also, be sure to read the whole thing (rejection letter) as i almost deleted an email invite that started off sounding like a rejection. Basically they said "Thanks for applying to the XXXXX ortho surg residency program. Each year we get far more applications from outstanding students than we can interview. This means that many qualified students are not offered an interview, however , our selection committee has chosen to offer you a interview spot on Dec XX"

I was about one second away from deleting the email, since it sounded like the other rejections i had gotten at that point.

Read the whole thing!
