Although I haven't received any yet, I'm sure that we're all doomed to get a few. I thought it might be helpful to everyone to start this thread along with the invitation thread... a good way to tell these programs "GFY"

Was not surprised by a Yale rejection-

Can you believe these guys had the nerve to request supplemental materials and didn't even post the stuff until 3 or 4 weeks after starting the application process?

I can't give my letter writers supplemental materials AGAIN (Wash U, U Wash)- I'd rather forget Yale than piss off my letter writers with more supplemental junk.

Yale says no 11/12. Supplemental forms? Let me just call my letter writters a third time after my school "misplaced" them the first time and UW wants thier own forms. Although I would like to think the rejection is based only on my lack of qualifications.

Not trying to be a complete jackass, but I didn't even know Yale had supplemental information (therefore I didn't fill it out) and I got an offer.

As they say on That 70s Show ... "Nice BURN"

But seriously, thanks for posting that.

I was wondering how important all that supplemental information crap is, if the school doesn't even bother telling you that you have to fill it out.

Now I know.

All of the programs with supplemental stuff have told me that it the forms are not necessary for an interview offer.

I actually didn't apply to Yale for the sole reason that I wouldn't be able to fill out that supplemental form by their deadline. Not that I'd want to live in New Haven anyway

saturday morning boot (11/13) boot from wake forest. it was actually a really nice letter:

"Thank you for your interest in and application to our Orthopaedic Surgery Residency Training Program at Wake Forest University. Each year the quality of our applicants becomes increasingly more competitive. The candidates this year were the most outstanding group I have yet encountered. This is wonderful for us, but disappointing, I'm sure, for many of you who have worked so hard and achieved so much..."

for those that applied to hopkins,

can you assume that if you didn't hear today, you're not being inteviewed?

the email from friday seemed to suggest that all invitations would be sent out today.

I don't think so, cdaddio - at least I hope not! From what I've heard from residents and seen posted on this forum, it sounds like most programs offer interviews in waves. I think it's fair to say that the "first wave" was given out by Hopkins today, but if they reject everyone else they could screw themselves if the "first wave" applicants turn down interviews because of conflicts etc.

Then again, I didn't hear from Hopkins today, so this is what I'm telling myself...

yeah, i'm in the same boat. but following both the interview invitation and the rejection posts, it seems the rejections always come a day after the invitations. i think this is so they can see who will accept their interview. but yeah, as someone mentioned some programs have multiple dates and send out invitations in waves.

Hopkins 11/16 by email:

Thank you for your interest in our program. Unfortunately, we are unable to offer you an interview. Should any of our invited interviewees decline their invitation, your application will be revisited.

whatever
