UIC ORTHO

Does anyone know about the current state of the University of IL at Chicago ortho program? Any info is
greatly appreciated.

UIC

I interviewed at UIC a few weekends ago. I was suprised by the program. I had heard absolute horror
stories before going and almost cancelled. But when I got there, I found out that the chairman changed
to Dr. Abraham, who is tons nicer than the last chair, who apparently was a maniac. Its not the
strongest program out there, but the call schedule is good (as good as Q7) and it is in Chicago. Overall,
the residents were happier to be in Chicago, than to be at UIC specifically.

UIC

I too recently interviewed at UIC. I agree with the above comments. The impression I got was that while
the UIC name wasn't as sexy as other Chicago programs, their operative experience could not be
matched. UIC has no fellows and the residents have a good deal of autonomy.

We only met three or four residents while there, which made me somewhat suspicious, but the chairman
(Dr. Abraham) went out to eat with us and was very down-to-earth.
