According to a study published online in the journal Foot & Ankle International, corticosteroid injection plus local anesthetic may not be superior to local anesthetic alone in terms of pain and function for patients with Morton’s neuroma. 

The authors conducted a prospective, double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled trial of 41 patients with a diagnosis of Morton’s neuroma who received either three injections of corticosteroid plus local anesthetic or local anesthetic alone.
