Musculoskeletal disorders and diseases are the leading cause of disability in the United States and account for more than one-half of all chronic conditions in people over 50 years of age. Treatments that mitigate the long-term impact of musculoskeletal disease and return patients to full and active lives are needed.

 

 

New surgical techniques and technologies are now available to assist the orthopedic surgeon in the treatment of complex fractures, particularly with traumatic injuries. Community based orthopedic surgeons need to know how to apply new surgical techniques and technologies now available to assist them in the treatment of complex fractures.

This course is designed for the community-based learner of orthopedic trauma. It will be valuable to surgeons who are at level I, II, or III trauma centers, with familiarity of the basic techniques and principles of internal fixation. This course will combine didactic sessions and sawbones practical exercises, as well as small group sessions to review strategy and options on a variety of trauma cases.
