Fee-for-service has been the predominant payment system in the healthcare sector for decades, rewarding providers for greater productivity irrespective of their clinical outcomes. But times are changing, rapidly, and a new value-based healthcare market is fortunately emerging. A transformational shift away from contingent volume based payments to alternative payment models linking compensation to quality outcomes is now underway. As such, seismic changes in the business of healthcare are forthcoming.
Physicians entering practice will be confronted with this new paradigm. The Hoag Orthopedic Institute (Irvine, California), in partnership with the Dell Medical School (Austin, Texas) and the Connecticut Joint Replacement Institute at Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center (Hartford, Connecticut), is pleased to announce the second annual educational offering for Senior Residents and Fellows in training “Preparing You for Your Value Based Healthcare Career”.
The course will take place on Thursday, December 8th and Friday, December 9th, 2016 and will be simulcast live between the three sites. It is intended to expose Physicians about to enter this new marketplace to the principles of the healthcare value equation and some of the essential tools necessary to thrive in their careers.
This is a no-cost course, including meals. There is no registration fee for the course. Please contact Vanessa Andronaco, Education Coordinator, Hoag Orthopedic Institute at
