Our fellowship in Pittsburgh, PA combines core clinical training in adult reconstruction surgery coupled with training in multidisciplinary bone and joint health programs targeted at reducing disparities for patients and providers.
About Our Adult Reconstruction Surgery Fellowship
This unique fellowship offers you the chance to:
- Train clinically at a high-volume adult reconstruction program.
- Work on projects aimed at reducing disparities in bone and joint care.
The Bone and Joint Center at UPMC Magee-Womens Hospital manages the fellowship in affiliation with the new the Center for Bone and Joint Health which unites UPMC departments and programs to provide seamless care that more fully addresses patients' non-operative and operative needs while reducing the disparities in care.
The fellowship provides well-rounded and extensive clinical training in all areas of adult reconstructive surgery including surgical and non-surgical treatments.
The orthopaedic staff, all with high-volume practices, will provide a complete experience that spans simple primary procedures to complex reconstructions.
You will graduate with the expertise to diagnose and treat the complete spectrum of hip and knee diseases.
You will also learn how to:
- Develop patient-centered bone and joint disease care programs.
- Build teams.
- Improve efficiencies in all aspects of care.
We couple clinical practice with ongoing care delivery re-modeling so that you'll gain a broad experience.
Fellows will have 400 to 500 surgical cases and high-volume outpatient clinic experience.
Arthroplasty training will include:
- Surgical and non-surgical treatments for hip and knee arthritis.
- Primary hip and knee replacement.
- Unicondylar knee replacement.
- Robotic and navigation-assisted surgery.
- Complex primary hip and knee reconstructions.
- Complex revision surgery.
- Orthopaedic implant failure and joint infections.
- Outpatient total joint and rapid recovery programs.
The fellowship year includes distinct core and elective rotations.
