Year-out research program for medical students interested in applying for orthopaedic residency. 3rd year medical students are preferred, although 2nd year students will be considered.

The research fellow will spend approximately 70% of the time in research activities, and 30% of the time pursuing clinical interests, including assistance in the clinic and OR and attendance at resident conferences and journal clubs. The majority of the fellow’s time will be spent with Brent Ponce, M.D., a fellowship-trained shoulder specialist, although participation in research studies with other faculty will be strongly encouraged. Previous fellows have pursued projects in shoulder, sports medicine, pediatrics, spine, hand, foot and ankle, and tumor.
