Founded in 1868, the Wayne State University School of Medicine is the largest single-campus medical school in the nation with more than 1,000 medical students. In addition to undergraduate medical education, the school offers master's degree, Ph.D., and M.D.-Ph.D. programs in 14 areas of basic science to about 400 students annually. The school's ties to the community are strong. As the only medical school in Detroit, WSU has a stated mission to improve the overall health of the community.

Mayo Clinic Orthopedic Surgery Residency Interviews will take place on Saturday, December 6, 2008. 

Award Details

The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) Orthopaedics Medical Student Clinical Research Award offers an extraordinary medical student the opportunity to dedicate a year to complete clinical research projects at CHOP.  This opportunity is a "year out" experience; i.e. the successful applicant will dedicate a year to clinical research with CHOP orthopaedic surgeons before either the third or fourth year of medical school.   Because of the extreme competitiveness of the orthopaedic residency application process, this funded year of clinical research and interaction with the CHOP orthopaedics world- renowned faculty is a much sought after opportunity amongst medical students who want to pursue a career in orthopaedic surgery.  The Division of Orthopaedic Surgery at CHOP was ranked the best in the nation for orthopaedic care by Child magazine's 2006 survey and has been ranked as the nation's finest in a survey of pediatric hospitals by U.S. News & World Report. The magazine's 2007 guide to "America's Best Children's Hospitals" ranked CHOP as the best hospital for children in the United States for the fifth consecutive year.

Madigan Army Medical Center Announces Requests for Prospective Resident Applications for 2009/2010

Medical Students interested in Orthopaedic Residency are encouraged to schedule rotations at the premier military orthopaedic residency program in the United States.  Madigan Army Medical Center (MAMC) is accepting medical students for 3-6 week rotations on the orthopaedic service beginning immediately for those students applying for residency beginning in 2010.

UC Davis Health System's Department of Orthopaedic Surgery is currently accepting applications for a newly created PGY2 position for the 2010-2011 year, beginning July 1, 2010.  Our program was awarded an increase in permanent allocation in January 2010.

One PGY-3 position in Orthopaedics at Stony Brook University Medical Center, NY will be open as of July 1st, 2011.
