Program Review
Staff / Faculty / Chairman
Our staff is great. We work with the university faculty as well as a large number of surgeons within the community. They are very supportive and will take time to teach.
Didactics / Teaching
Mostly resident led with daily morning conference with Wednesday each week being Grand Rounds. Encourages us to read daily.
Operating Experience
We are given more opportunities early-on for hands-on experience than I saw during my away rotations.
Clinic Experience
We would rather be in OR but who wouldn't. However, clinical savvy is important so we have at least one day in office weekly on every rotations.
Research Opportunities
Plenty of research opportunities exist. Chairman is very encouraging and faculty usually have ideas for studies if you need one.
Residents
We have a strong, cohesive group and hang out outside of work frequently.
Lifestyle
Hours range 60-80hrs/wk. Most people in program are married and alot have kids. We have adequate time to spend with family and friends and have some fun.
Location / Housing
Prices for housing are competitive and there is alot to do in Dayton and in the area nearby. Recently drove up to Cedar Point and had a blast.
Limitations
Really the only thing I would change about this place is location because its 12+hrs from where I'm from. Really happy with the training I'm getting and the people I work with.
Overall Rotation Experience / Conclusion
Great place to be training for the best job
Qualification
