Didactics / Teaching
Amazing. Our program prides itself on performing well on the OITE and boards.
Operating Experience
as a junior it varies by rotation (some you run your own and others you first assist with an attending) as a 3-5 YOU do the cases! Our fives are all very capable and many go right into private practice.
Clinic Experience
Lots of autonomy in clinic. Believe it not, clinic is a GREAT place to learn. Residents have their own clinic on each rotation and we schedule our own cases out of there.
Research Opportunities
plentiful.if research is your thing, there are definitely ample opportunities here.
Residents
the best I have seen at any program. We are all VERY close!! the type of program where you can call a chief at midnight ( who is not even on call) and he would be glad to help you
Lifestyle
recently added the night float system so you are Q15 in house (thats right, two nights a month) as a junior! All home call as a senior ( only come in to operate... beat that
Location / Housing
OKC has really grown on me. Great outdoor stuff (great hunting and the best public golf of any city I have ever lived in )cheap housing and most importantly...it is SAFE... i dont worry about my wife and family the few nights I have to stay at the hospital
Limitations
we have all areas covered. No program is absolutely perfect but OU has no major deficiencies
