I am an MS4 MD/PhD interested in ortho. Seems like the research experience (cell bio, but not ortho-related) may help me at the academic places and could potentially work against me at some of the smaller community places. Just thinking of where I should apply...anyone have any advice on this?

Thanks!
I just PMed you but got an error; let me know if you got it

We are having some issues with the PM system associated with the forum. The other system seen on the left hand side is working OK.

Having participated in research simply shows that you have initiative and interest in the scientific process. This is obviously a positive attribute that any program, academic or community will value. Some community programs have as much active research as academic programs. Translation : Apply wherever you will be comfortable living the next five years of your life.

absolutely agree with orthotimes. community programs are not anti-research, anti-knowledge, nor anti-any thing else that fuels progress in science and orthopaedics. i'm not coming down on rt46, i just don't want the folks that benefit from this website to get the wrong impression about community programs in general.
