Hi, I know that all ortho programs are competitive but some are probably near impossible for me to get into so I want to be smart have alot of variety in the types of programs I do away rotations at. I know that both CMC and AMC are community programs, but at least from reading orthogate it seems like CMC is more academic that many university programs, and they tend to go after the AOA type applicants. So in terms of choosing a place to do an away rotation at, and already knowing that I will be doing my other away rotation at a university program, would it be smarter to do an away rotation at AMC instead of CMC, or is AMC just as academic and competitive to get into as CMC is? And is my perception of CMC totally wrong?

I think you are dead on. CMC is very academic where as AMC seemed very community to me. Something that may make up your mind for you (if you are a 3rd year) is CMC spots for rotations may be filled up by now. I hear they traditionally fill up quick so this may be a non-issue. I would suggest emailing the rotation coordinator to see if there are any spots still available.

Thanks alot. I actually emailed them both and CMC is full already for sept. Has anyone rotated at AMC? Can you tell me what the rotation is like via this thread or a PM? Thanks!
