Could past applicants let us/me know when you got your first interview?

Cool. I knew most are after nov 1 when the MSPE is released, but I was just wondering what percentage of people got a sporadic few in the middle of october.

I remember Pitt, Case Western, and JPS being my early interview offers in October.

I was looking at last year's interview offers thread out of curiousity, and it appears that a number of programs began sending out interview invitations in October. In addition to Pitt, Case Western, and JPS as mentioned above, here are a list of schools that sent out invitations in October last year:

-Wake Forest
-Mayo
-Penn State
-Univ. of Missouri-Columbia
-Iowa
-Akron
-Summa Ohio
-Marshall
-Duke
-Rochester
-Univ of Nebraska
-Georgetown
-Texas Tech
-Henry Ford
-SUNY Upstate (Syracuse)
-AECOM
-Ochsners

I'd like to emphasize that interviews come in "waves" so don't worry if you don't get one the first time around (ie, Oct).

I know for a fact that some of the programs just listed send out multiple interview offers after the initial offer, so don't stress out if you don't have an interview by October, more will come, trust me.

Just to put another voice in for the above, don't fret early. I wouldn't put any connection between not getting interviews in October and not matching as highly. The point is to interview, and I've known folks who only got the interview off the waiting list who matched to that program. Getting the interview is the important thing. The majority of interviews don't seem to start coming until November, and offers continue into December. Most of my interview offers didn't come until late November as I remember, but I still got more offers than I could attend. Right now it's time to focus on doing well in your away rotations and then enjoying the easiest year of your life for many years to come. There'll be plenty of time for worrying later.

Looks like some programs are starting early this year. Got first interview offer today. It would appear this season is off to a quick start.

Good luck to everyone!

Did an away rotation my first block. I earned a high satisfactory. The program offers all rotators an interview. Is it going to be a waste of time/money to attend the interview, or do I have a chance? I know some of the residents/attendings liked me, but I am not sure if they helped determine my grade. Thanks,

Wow, good for the people getting interviews. Out of curiosity, are you guys the superstars (265+, top 5 school, aoa, multiple pubs, etc).

Best of luck to all those interviewing!

Nope.

I think you'd get more satisfaction pondering the meaning of life than trying to determine the logic behind interview offers.
