Does anyone know of a site or have a general ranking system of orthopedic residencies around the country? I know there are the usual power programs, but is there a reliable source that has a list of programs that are good vs middle-of-the-road vs stay away?
Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

There is no USNWR-like rankings for ortho programs, which is for the best. I also can't think of any ortho programs that could be considered "stay away" type programs.

There is no ranking system of any kind. Now of course US News and other magazines may rank departments and hospitals, but it weighs heavy on research dollars and staffing ratios. It doesn't rank how good of training you're going to get.

Any suggestions as to where I can find good information on programs other than FREIDA? I am spending a month at 3 programs in the midwest I am interested in. When it comes time to apply, I would like to have a good idea of what I might be getting myself into.

Thanks

What sort of information do you want?

Oh, and you're getting yourself into quite a lot, no matter where you go.

I am looking for information on which programs you would consider highly ranked vs. those that are more average programs. I am also interested in which programs those of you who have rotated at or are currently residents have enjoyed and thought were good programs. I would like to know if there are any programs that people know of that "diamonds in the rough" or programs that people would recommend checking out from experience. As a MS4, I have spent lots of time on FREIDA, but that information only goes so far.

Thanks
