Hey all,

I am one of the unfortunate 4th years who applied to ortho this year and failed to match (250+ step I, research and leadership, top half of my class from a top 20 med school). I'll be doing a research fellowship next year and reapplying, but in the meantime I'd like to do all I can to improve my chances. Away rotations are clearly the student's #1 tool for matching, but since I'll be graduating I assume I won't be eligible anymore for the traditional visiting student electives (correct?). I was wondering then if anyone knew about any opportunities to rotate at/visit a program as a post-graduate?

I would look into delaying graduation. If you're technically still a med student then you should be covered by insurance for aways. Otherwise you might get stuck just observing.
