Hey guys and gals,

Surgery was my first rotation of third year (trauma, pediatric, orthopaedics). Just received our grades a few days ago, and I earned a B+ (91.2, cutoff of 93). My question for those who have matched into ortho is this: for those who did not earn an A/Honor their third year surgery rotation, was it brought up as a negative on your application during interviews?

Some background info:

All A's first year.
All Passes second year (switched to P/F grading system for the basic sciences).
Step 1 257.
Finished Pediatrics (don't know grade yet) and currently on IM.

I'm not sure if I hurt myself taking surgery first. The shelf was rather difficult. The clerkship director's summation of my attending's comments was pretty positive (are they always like that?). Anyway, thanks for the input!

Was only brought up at 1 interview and it was just in passing. I think most of the programs that really cared about it just didn't give me an interview invitation. Who knows. Don't sweat it; I know more than a handful of guys who didn't honor surgery and matched well into ortho.
