First of all, I would tell you to retire well before you are 70 so you can enjoy some life after orthopedics. However, if you choose to work then, it will be dependent upon your clinic situation. Some clinics will allow a transition period into more of a nonoperative roll. Usually, there would be a change in compensation as well. I have had partners that have worked normally into their mid 60s and nearly 70 with a normal schedule until they retired.
