I can't accurately give you an accurate average step 1 score for UT memphis, but when Dr. Richardson, current program director, talked to us he said that a 220-230 you should think of something else to pursue; 230-240 you should have other things that stand out about your application to make you competitive = strong rotation > class rank > research; 240-250, you are very competitive and that it is now up to other factors to place (as mentioned above), and > 250 it is considered an asset. He also said it doesn't matter if you are AOA or not because many schools don't recognize AOA's. He did say though that GPA/class rank does really matter. Clinical grades mostly. Step 2 CK he said that it is not required and that he does not really look at it since some people have not taken it by the time applications come around. However, he did say that it CAN help if you rock out on step 2 and have a sub 240.
This is my home program and I am currently rotating. Next year, Dr. Richardson is stepping down and Dr. Throckmorton will be replacing him. I am not sure of the reason but it has nothing to do with the state of the program. In addition, Dr. Throckmorton is phenomenal and is a rising, very young bright mind in shoulder and elbow that trained at Mayo.
Hope this helps
