I was just wondering if any veterans or present 4th years out there have done away rotations at either of these programs and what their thoughts/experiences were...also, more importantly, did you feel you were isolated from the rest of the program given you didn't have any time at the adult hospitals with other attendings that may (?) play more of a role in the app. process? (i.e chairman, program directors etc-it seems, and I may be totally off here, that the peds guys at the above hospitals may play only a minimal role in the selection process)

I dont know anything about these two programs, but I have some general advice. Most programs are very flexible about 4th year rotations... If I were you I would ask if you can split your time between the peds and adult rotations... maybe do 1-2 weeks of peds and 1-2 weeks of adult. Not sure if you have done peds ortho yet, but you might want to get a good handle on fracture care and joints before you start doing month long peds rotations... on my aways I was offered a week at the childrens hospital, which I gladly acepted.....and one week was plenty for me to see some tendon releases, SCFEs, and tibial torsions....you might want to work out a deal like this.....may work in your best favor
