So I have a feeling that I will get high passes in most of my rotations. The way my school grades for honors it is,imo, biased and unlikely(what is the difference between excellent and outstanding?) Worse case senario, With a step 1 244, one publication and two current research projects and all HP even aways, would I have a long shot at a program? Would I have to explain myself to everyone? Would I need to take step 2 early and kill it to boost my cv? I hope to honor everything, but so far thats not happening.

Killing step II would not hurt.
Do you absolutely need it?
Depends on where you want to go and how you feel about your home program and places you rotated at. If you feel "confident" you can match there, then you should be ok without step II. But I think you will boost your application quite a bit by taking step II sooner.
Most recent statistics shows that 240 on step I is just a median.
So take it if you if you can.

I guess my real question is for those who have had some interview experience. Would getting High pass on all clinical rotations would seriously jepordize my chances?

I think not honoring surgery would hurt your application. Not honoring Ortho rotations would also probably be a problem. The rest doesn't matter as much other than decreasing your chances of getting AOA, which at some places may be important.

I am just hypothetically thinking worst case senario. Can anyone say with certainty how it would affect an application?

I understand that you are stressing out. But no one can really tell you anything with certainty. There are no guarantees in this process. You cannot change the past, so focus on the future. I did not get all honors either. Just do your best from now on. Take step II earlier, if you are worried. It can only help if you will do well. And calm down and relax. Chances are you will match Ortho.

Nobody can give you certainty. However, if you do want certainty, as close as I can get to it is that receiving all HPs on your aways (which is actually quite hard in general as most are subject to grade inflation) would significantly decrease your chances of matching as that would be a notable red flag and it would truly make you stand out negatively. Again, this is a very unlikely scenario (imo) but since you asked that is my take on it.

what do you mean by grade inflation? From what you're telling me it sounds like clinical grades at my home institution are not as important as away rotation evaluations.

What I mean is that it is typically (not always) difficult not to honor an away in ortho. So in your scenario in which you receive all HPs on aways you would truly stand out (in a negative way). Home rotations are far more difficult to honor, and most applicants probably only have a few Honors so getting all HPs would not be seen as negatively in my opinion. The one core rotation that probably has any impact is Surgery (some also say Medicine is looked at).
I hope I'm not making it more confusing haha.
