We would like to inform you about an exciting opportunity for medical students interested in taking a year between your 3rd and 4th years to get first-hand, clinical research experience in the Division of Pediatric Orthopaedic Surgery at Columbia University Medical Center/Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital of New York Presbyterian. The Fellowship supports 3rd year students interested in taking one year to conduct research in a wide range of topics. Furthermore, the Fellowship offers both training in clinical research and hands-on collaboration with outstanding pediatric orthopaedic surgeons from North America and around the world. Overall, this program will provide you with experience and training that will be invaluable towards your future residency and medical career goals.

The Center for Pediatric Orthopaedic Research in the Division of Pediatric Orthopaedic Surgery and Weinberg Family Cerebral Palsy Center at Columbia University offer a unique opportunity to conduct research in the area of pediatric orthopaedic surgery such as pediatric spinal deformity, lower extremity deformity, cerebral palsy and public policy. Faculty members lead various international and national study groups and research projects which allow students to travel and witness the creation of practice guidelines, disease classification, outcome measurements and clinical research which will be the cornerstone of clinical care. Additionally, we provide students opportunities to present their studies at international and national conferences.

Every year we have medical students work in our research center between their 3rd and 4th years with great success. Past student fellows have won prizes at the American Academy of Pediatrics, National Student Research Forum and Eastern-Atlantic Student Research Forum. They have successfully matched with national top residency program including Harvard University, Tufts University, Brown University as well as Columbia University.
