Hi all,
Thanks for the query about the trauma training center (TTC) track. The TTC just celebrated it's 10th anniversary (and 10th TTC fellow). It allows an interested applicant the unique opportunity of getting extraoridinary hands-on experience in clinical and basic science research (leading to national and international presentations, peer-reviewed publications, book chapters, etc.) under the guidance of Dr. Mel Rosenwasser, our Director of Trauma and Hand Surgery. As indicated above, it was traditionally offered outside the match to 1 of the 50 invited applicants.
The ACGME has asked us to make this a "matched" 6-year position so as of this year it will indeed be a separate match number. The 50 invited applicants will be asked prior to their arrival at Columbia who is interested and will have a separate TTC interview in addition to the normal interviews. Expressing interest in this 6-year track in no way impacts the applicant's rank list for the standard 5 year position.
I hope that answers any questions - please feel free to email me directly if you have any further questions ([url=mailto]
