I graduated last year (finished clerkships in March 2007).
Being a foreign grad matters. I am guessing that for most programs that would be the first screening step, given that only 44 fmg's got into ortho this year. Last time around i applied to about 40 programs, this year -- 86. I would have applied to all, if money were not an issue.
So, if there are any ortho hopefuls out there - try to stay in US, or transfer into either MD or DO program, once you're in a school abroad.
True, there may be a couple of Carib grads getting into ortho every year, but those are exceptions, not the rules.
