I finished a pgy 1 prelim general surgery year, then 2 years of research and now i found out monday that I didnt match. I found out I was one person away on rank list (they thought for sure they would go much lower). It seems ortho keeps getting harder to get into each year and I am not sure I am ready to give up on it either after coming so close.
I am debating on what to do next and the only thing I haven't tried is doing a house officer position. I was wondering if anyone could share their experience with these positions. I imagine when the rare 2nd year position becomes open that this makes you much more competitive.
Anyone know of any openings for these positions?
