I'm looking into doing an away rotation at University of Iowa. Can anybody (students/rotators/residents) give me info about the rotation/program? Which services/teams to rotate on? Do they typically match rotators > non-rotators? General opinions, etc? It would be much appreciated. Thanks for the help.

I know this post is very old but I just wanted to give a quick update. Iowa is a great place to rotate if you want to see a top notch program that is quite well-balanced. They have updated the way they select away rotators and it is much more streamlined than in past years. The application process is already open. Just Google University of Iowa orthopedics away rotation and you should not have any trouble finding information.

The program takes 6 residents per year. They typically match 2-3 away rotators versus non-rotators. Program has specialists in every field and residents get a great operative experience. One stand out about this program is that interns take primary call during the first year which gives them a leg up on many places.
