I have only 1 letter for ortho and 3 from general surgeons. Is this ok or sufficienct to apply?
The problem is that my hospital does not have a ortho residency program so there are not that many ortho attendings. I got a letter from the division chief of ortho, but none of the other ortho attendings have written a letter for me (which I aksed months ago) and it doesn't look like they're going to do it in time. However, I have 3 excellent letters from general surgery attendings that I think will work, i.e. they don't specifically say in the letter they're recommending me for general surgery only. They all say something along the lines that I will be an excellent surgeon, etc.
I will try to bug the other ortho attendings again, but will getting letters from general surgeons instead of ortho attendings be a negative factor that an ortho PD will use to reject a candidate, even though they are excellent letters?
Thanks.
